Some classes (classes 4 and 5) will work on the Time Travel Stations for session 4 on Monday due
to a school assembly. Most classes will have theirs due at the beginning of class on Monday and
some may have needed to work on the packets for homework over the weekend. Half the stations
require classroom resources and half can be done at home. Students were encouraged to plan
accordingly.
Students can earn extra credit for bringing in representative organisms for Time Travel Session 5
(live mammals, plastic birds, plastic whales and dolphis) for next week's time period. Students
may bring in their pets in an appropriate cage. Students can earn extra credit by completing the
on-line "Deep Time Make-up Station for Session 4 or 5" (see Current Unit Handouts for directions
to that on going extra credit opportunity.)
We will do Flower Dissection on Monday and begin new stations on Tuesday.
Our field trip to the IMAX movie "Sea Monsters 3D- a prehistoric adventure" was awesome! It
showed us how scientists find and use fossils to understand what and how life existed and
interacted thousands and millions of years ago. It showed how fossils form and why we find
marine fossils in mountain sides and in what are now grasslands and deserts. The 3-D aspect of
the movie was incredible.
Fossil quizzes have been handed back. Time travel journal #3 has been handed back as well.
Note: Some organisms should definitely NOT be collected from the wild. Many are protected by
law. Even non-threatened species may become stressed during capture or in captivity. Please use
the utmost care and judgment when helping your child collect living organisms for this activity.
Reminder: WOD requires you to record and learn the given definition for the
next day.
Occasionally I change the homework assignments as the week progresses. If you have any questions
about what is due please see the student's Agenda Book or "This Week" on my website for the
latest updates to the daily homework assignments. This also tells you what we are doing each day!
Extra help is held from 7:45-8:15 a.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
