The Chocksett UN Club sponsored a drive called “Cookies for Troops”. The
goal was to bring our brave men and women soldiers of the 1-182 Infantry in
Afghanistan some cheer by sending them donated boxes of Girl Scout Cookies.
Working with the very generous Sterling Girl Scout Troop 30501 we will be
able to donate over 320 boxes of cookies! Thank you to all those associated
with Chocksett Middle School and the town of Sterling for helping make this
year’s support of our troops a successful one!

3/6/12

On Saturday, March 3rd Chocksett competed in the district-wide Middle School
Model UN Conference held at the High School. Students came together to
discuss and debate the global problem of human slavery. Students were
assigned a country and then asked to represent the positions and solutions of
that country to the rest of the Conference. Students then worked together to
provide common solutions that would elicit broad appeal. Chocksett students
would claim four awards for their efforts in speaking and leadership.
Danielle Jolie and Mike O’Connor won Distinguished Delegate Awards while
Katie Cronin and Mike Kush took home Honorable Mentions. Congratulations to
the entire Chocksett team on a great performance!

4/4/12

There will be no more regular UN meetings. We will have 1 or 2 more informal
meetings later this year. At present, I am working on scheduling the Higgins
armory as a Saturday trip in May. In addition, there might be an opportunity
for the UN kids to take a day trip to the actual UN in NYC on May 31st.
Itinerary and cost are being worked on now, but is expected to be around $60
per student. Please email me if your child has interest in the UN trip and
would be thinking of attending. Thank you!
