TEAM JILLY you can join the team or just donate for the team!
On June 9th, I will be participating in the 11th annual Boston Harbor
Walk. This is a sponsored, six mile walk around Castle Island in Boston to
benefit the Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center. I will
be walking in honor and support of my thirteen year old daughter, Jillian, who
is an 8th grader here at Chocksett.
At 2 years old she had surgery to remove a tumor on her brain, and again
benefited from the services of the Neurosurgery Department in the spring of
2010 to remove another one. All money that I raise for “Team Jilly” will
be donated directly to the Neurosurgery Department.
Last year, I raised over $2,000 with donations from my 5th grade
students, the Chocksett staff, students, softball players, family and
friends. I also had over 25 walkers including many staff, students, and
Sterling families for my team. They have refreshments and activities
immediately after the event. It really is a lot of fun and good exercise for
a good cause.
This is a wonderful opportunity to raise the students’ awareness and
compassion about others in need, especially children.
