Chamber Theater Trip:

The 8th grade students enjoyed a wonderful day at the Chamber Theatre in
Boston on October 2nd. They were all pleased to see four classic tales come
to life on stage, including the “The Tell Tale Heart” and “The Necklace”. The
day was topped off with a special lunch at The Fire and Ice Restaurant. It
was the perfect ending to our short story unit, and it was a perfect
beginning to our school year!

Trip to Monty Tech:

Our trip to Montachusett Technical High School is scheduled for Friday,
October 19th. Students will be able to tour the school’s facilities and
have a chance to visit various vocational classrooms to gather information on
the programs offered at Monty Tech. Lunch will be provided for all students
at Monty Tech the day of our trip.

Entrance into this school is highly competitive, and it is determined by a
point system that considers scholastics, attendance, and conduct. Teacher
recommendations, which consider achievement, classroom involvement,
study/work habits, motivation, and personal responsibility, are carefully
considered in the acceptance process.

8th Grade District-Wide Student Council:

The 8th grade District-Wide Student Council will have its first meeting on
October 16th at the Central District Office in Jefferson. Chocksett
representatives will be attending this first meeting with our DWSC advisor,
Mrs. Sabacinski.

The DWSC representatives for the Class of 2008 are: Jonathan Porciello, Joe
MacAulay, Olivia Williamson and alternate Catherine Miller. Congratulations
to our representatives!

 8th Grade Art News:

Thanks to Michele Fritschy for volunteering her many hours to supervise EVERY
8th grade student on the potter's wheel. It will take several months for
each student to get a turn, have their piece fired in the kiln and proceed
through the glazing process. Watch for these masterpieces to come home as a
permanent remembrance of their graduation year. If anyone would like to help
with this activity, please contact Mrs. Grabek.
