Classroom Policies

Welcome to 8th Grade Physical Science Class. Please
review the classroom policies below.

Materials for Class:
Students should come prepared to class everyday with the following items: a
science notebook (3 subjects), a calculator, science textbook and their
assignment notebook.

Homework:
Homework is usually a review of what we did in class, or preparation for
what we will be doing in class. For this reason it is important that it be
done ON TIME and with an HONEST EFFORT.
Homework is posted daily on the board for each class. Long term
assignments, test/quiz dates, and lab due dates are also posted in advance
on the board. Homework is also posted on this website on the "Homework"
link. I will do my best to keep this page updated. However, this is
NOT the primary homework board. Homework is both verbally and
visually presented to the students during class on the classroom homework
board. For this reason it is the student's responsibility to get his or her
homework for the day. The website is to help you keep updated with
assignments and help students when they are out. If a student is in class on
the day something is assigned he or she is expected to complete the
assignment regardless of whether or not it appears on this web site.
Homework that is passed in late or without an honest effort will not receive
full credit. One (1) point will be deducted for each missed/incomplete
assignment.

Extra Help:
Extra Help is available during Academic Enrichment on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and
Thursdays. Please see me for a pass if you would like to come in during AE for
Extra Help.

Lab Safety:
Safety during our labs is my number one priority. If for any reason a
student is acting in a way that may harm themselves or another, the student
will be removed from the lab setting and receive a zero(0)for that lab.

Cheating:
Any form of cheating will result in a zero (0) for a grade.

 Academic Enrichment:
AE takes place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. If a student is not
involved in an extra activity during the Academic Enrichment period, it is a
silent time in my homeroom, which should be used by the student to begin
homework, read, makeup tests or quizzes, and seek extra help.
Students will not be allowed to leave homeroom during Academic Enrichment
without a pass from the appropriate teacher (the only exception will be
students enlisted in an activity). All students must sign out of homeroom
before leaving for an activity or for another classroom.

Make-up Work:
It is the student's responsibility to make up test/quiz grades, missed
notes, lab work, or any homework if they are absent. If you would like to
have your assignments sent home if you are absent, you can make a homework
request through the school office.
Students should see me during Academic Enrichment if they have have been
absent to check on the work they have missed.

Signed Test/Quiz grades:
A grade of 70 or below will have to be signed and corrected and returned to
school the next day.

Parent Conferences:
Parent Conferences are available upon request. Please contact an 8th grade
team member to set up a parent conference.
