• EXTRA HELP: If at any time you need extra help, or something is unclear to you, feel free to talk to me. I am available for extra help EVERY DAY during Academic Enrichment. If you need to come in for extra help, see me and I will give you a pass for AE. • MATERIALS FOR CLASS: Please be sure to bring your Physical Science textbook to class EVERY day. Your book is a great reference tool. You should also come to class everyday with a pen/pencil, a calculator, science notebook and your assignment notebook! • HOMEWORK: Homework is usually a review of what we did in class, or preparation for what we will be doing in class. For this reason it is important that it is done completely and ON TIME and completed with an HONEST EFFORT. Homework is posted daily on the board for each class; time will be given during class for students to copy the homework assignment in their assignment notebooks. Long term assignments, lab due dates, and test/quiz dates are also posted in advance on the homework board. Homework that is passed in late or without and honest effort will not receive full credit. Homework counts as a midterm quiz grade as well as a final term grade for each quarter. • CHEATING: Any form of cheating will result in a zero (0) for a grade. • LAB SAFETY: Safety during our labs is my NUMBER ONE concern! If for any reason a student is acting in a way that may harm themselves or another, by not following the lab safety rules given, the students will be removed from the lab setting, and receive a zero (0) for a lab grade. • CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT/EXPECTATIONS: 1. Be on time, be prepared, and remain on task. 2. Be respectful. Do not disrupt the class or teacher. You must not interfere with a classmate's right to learn or the teacher's right to teach. 3. Students should not leave the classroom without asking permission and signing out of the room. 4. Respect all persons and property in the classroom. 5. Bring all appropriate materials to class. Students are discouraged from going to their lockers to get forgotten materials. 6. Be in your seat and ready to begin class when you enter the classroom. 7. Substitute teachers are to be treated with the utmost respect. • MAKE-UP WORK: It is the student’s responsibility to make up tests/quizzes, missed notes, lab work, or any homework if they are absent. Students should see me during class time or Academic Enrichment if they have been absent to meet regarding the work they may have missed. If you are absent and would like to have your assignments sent home, you can make a homework request through the office. • SIGNED TESTS/QUIZZES: A grade below a 70 will have to be signed and corrected and returned the following school day. • PARENT CONFERENCES: Parent Conferences are available upon request. To set up a parent conference, please contact a team member. • WEB PAGE: The address for my web page is http://www.teacherweb.com/MA/ChocksettMiddleSchool/Petit. I update the web page monthly with “classroom happenings” so be sure to check it out! The site also contains vocabulary games, study guides, a calendar of events, links to science sites, and a link to my e-mail address. <font color=Red>Parent Conferences:</b></font> Parent Conferences are available upon request. Please contact an 8th grade team member to set up a parent conference.
