M.O.N.K.E.Y. Binder Overview
My Organization Notebook Keeps Everything Yearlong

Front Pocket of Binder: All Signed and/or Completed Forms=
In the Front pocket of your binder place all Signed and/or Completed forms to be returned to the
School and/or Classroom (permission slips, volunteer forms, etc.). Thank you!

Zipper Pocket:Money and Teacher and/or School Notes=
This is where you should put all money to be brought to school (lunch, book orders, etc.) so it
doesn't get "lost" in the bottom of the backpack. Students should take this money out once at
school to turn in to the teacher. This is also a good place to put notes for the teacher and/or
school (doctor's notes for excused absences, etc.). Please ask your child to let me know when
there is a note for me or the school. I will not have time to check each M.O.N.K.E.Y binder for
notes each morning. There will be a special basket in the classroom for your child to place
his/her M.O.N.K.E.Y. Binder in if it has a note for the teacher and/or school.

Front:Newsletter and Class Roster=
In the Front you will find a copy of our weekly Second Grade Scoop Newsletter. This newsletter
will include our weekly skills to be taught, as well as other important classroom information.
Behind the newsletter you will find a class roster. This can be used for sending out birthday
invitations, Valentine's cards, etc.

First Section:Spelling Contract and Word list=
In the First section you will find a Spelling Contract and Weekly Spelling list. Please review
Weekly Spelling words with your child each night and sign the Spelling Contract so that I know
it was reviewed. Thank you!

Second Section:Nightly Homework=
In the Second section you will find homework papers. These papers need to be completed each
night and returned “right” back to school. Please review homework with your child for careless
mistakes and initial the top of each page so that I know it was reviewed by you. Thank you!

Third Section:Corrected Work=
In the Third section you will find class-work and homework that your child has completed and is
ready to be “left” at home. This pocket should be cleaned out each evening. After you
have "oooed and aahhed" over your child's work, I'm sure you will want to hang it on the
refrigerator to ENJOY!

Fourth Section:Weekly Behavior Report and Log=
In the Fourth Section you will find your child's Weekly Behavior Report. Reports will come home
in this folder every Friday. This Behavior Report should be taken out, reviewed with your child,
and kept at home. In this section, I will also keep a Behavior Log that should always remain in
the binder. Each Friday you should sign this log when you remove the report so I know that it
was received by a parent/guardian and you are aware of your child’s classroom behavior. Thank
you!

Fifth Section:School, Classroom, and/or PTO Friday Papers=
In the front pocket of the binder you will find important papers from the school, classroom,
and/or PTO. Papers will be sent home in this pocket each Friday. Please remove and read all of
these papers promptly; they will keep you in touch with important news and events that are
happening at the Clapp School.
