I have been teaching in a public school setting for the past seventeen
years. The first nine years were as a Kindergarten teacher at Cole
School. This is my ninth year teaching First Grade at Cole. I have a BS in
Child Development from the University of Maine and an MS in Education
from the University of New England. Prior to my teaching career, I worked in
the private sector as a training and motivation specialist.
My passion is teaching. When I am not in the classroom I enjoy reading,
coursework, gardening, kayaking, fly fishing, cooking and spending as much
time with my family and friends as possible. I love to learn new things so
this summer I took up knitting. Most beginners start with a scarf. I am
making a sweater! It gives my hands something to do while I watch my beloved
Red Sox! With any luck, I will complete it before your child graduates from
high school.
My mission as a teacher is to make my students believe that there is
nothing that they cannot do, no matter how difficult it may appear at first
blush. I want them to feel respected, valued, and truly cared about. My
mission is for my students to treat themselves and others with respect. I
will hold them to the highest standards in all areas of their development,
expecting nothing short of their best each day. I will help my students to be
resourceful, inquisitive, and open minded. I will always treat my students the
way I wanted teachers to treat my own children when they were in school.
