Spanish classes are now in their 5th year at Cole and Spofford Pond Schools. Classes are conducted mostly in Spanish using motions and gestures to help students infer meaning. English is used as needed.
Our Massachusetts state standards have us addressing the questions:
*What does Spanish look like and sound like?
*How do I identify myself to others?
At Cole, we begin classes greeting one another and doing the calendar. While talking about the date, we also review days, months, seasons, numbers, and sing for birthdays once a month. The lesson of the day follows integrating motions, music, or pictures with vocabulary. Classes usually end with a review or a story.
At Spofford Pond School lessons often vary by grade levels. We learn to identify ourselves and ones another along with learning about weather, seasons, clothing, foods, likes and dislikes.
Students have been enthusiastic about learning a new language and gaining insight into Spanish cultures. It is delightful to see students make connections and learn new words and phrases.
I teach K-2 Spanish at Cole School on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Thursdays and Fridays I am at Spofford Pond .
Please feel free to contact me with questions at either Cole or Spofford.
Thank you for this opportunity to work with your children.
Appreciatively,
Señora Marcille
