In Math we will wrap up Unit 15 in Geometry by making quilt squares. This activity will reinforce the spatial relationship and visual skills that have been emphasized throughout the unit. Students will apply their knowledge of slides, flips, and turns to create quilt designs with pattern blocks. We will then begin Unit 16 in Measuring Area.
We will go back into Social Studies and begin to look at People of Importance. This discussion will tie in with our Language Arts study of Non-fiction biographies.
In Language Arts Reader's Workshop we are reading non-fiction texts in our small group lessons. We are using the knowledge of this genre to begin reading biographies. Please ask your child about the book they chose in the Library. Also, ask about the person they are reading about, why they chose that person, why this person is important. No Spelling words this week!
