Dear Parents,
What a fun week we had! Thank you to all the parents who donated food for our
feast or came to help us out! The children really enjoyed trying all of the
different foods. We had turkey, cranberry sauce, cornbread, raisins,
craisins, pumpkin pie, homemade whipped cream and homemade butter.
We talked about the pilgrims and the first Thanksgiving. The children learned
that the pilgrims came to America for freedom and they met the Native
Americans who showed them how to plant harvest and hunt for food. Both groups
of people helped each other and they were very thankful to have met each
other. They had a big feast to celebrate all of their harvests. The children
made pilgrim/native american headbands to wear to our Thanksgiving feast.
We read many fun Thanksgiving stories and learned a couple of songs. We
learned the Making Butter Boogie and Dinner's Ready!
In handwriting this week we learned how to form the letter Cc. Please keep
reinforcing any of the letters/numbers we are working on at school. You can
have them practice on chalkboards, whiteboards, in shaving cream, pudding,
sand, rice, etc.
I am looking forward to meeting with each of you the week of the 8th to
discuss your child's progress and show you their wonderful work. Please be
thinking of any questions that you may have before the conference so that we
can address all of your questions or concerns.
