Process

Based on your knowledge of the novel, "Of Mice and Men", along with the
notes that we have taken in class, and the research you are about to do,
proceed through the following steps to relate the following 8 elements to
the novel. (theme, symbolism, plot, characterization, conflict, setting,
title, the dream)

STEP 1: There will be 4 possible groups. Each group will consist of 2 of
the above 8 elements. For example, Group 1 will consist of theme and
setting. Group 2 will consist of symbolism and plot. Group 3 will consist
of characterization and the dream. The last group, Group 4, will consist of
conflict and the title.

STEP 2: I will assign 5-6 students to a group. Your job, as a group is to
research the assigned topic be it, symbolism and plot, or characterization
and the dream and become "experts" on that topic. When you are finished
researching, and discussing with your group you should know the insides and
outs of your assigned topics.

STEP 3: I will then assign you into a group of 4 based on your research
topic. There will be one person from group 1, one from group 2, one from
group 3, and 1 from group 4. This way, you will have an "expert" from each
group in your final "project group".

STEP 4: Your "project group" will be the group that you will present your
project with. These 4 people must work together to research and discuss the
8 elements of the novel. You will also need to come up with a unique way in
which to present the information using the media production strand.

STEP 5: When you have decided on a way in which you would like to present
the information you may come to me with your group and have your
presentation tool approved. Then you are ready to begin.

STEP 6: You may use time in the computer lab to discuss and research. You
must then create your project integrating the ideas and research of all
the "experts" in your group.

STEP 7: Last but certainly not least, your group will present your project
to the class.

SIDE NOTE: If there is anything that you need to successfully present your
project on the date that it is due you MUST see me prior so that I can
provide you with what you may need. Think ahead. Do you need a projector,
screen, laptop, disk, etc?
