·        Your child should bring a simple, healthy, nut-free snack and drink daily.  This snack should be packed separately from your child’s lunch.

·              Lunch money ($1.50) and milk money ($.50) is collected in the classroom first thing in the morning.

·             Your child will have an agenda.  After reviewing the student handbook in the front of the agenda please sign the first page and return.  The remainder of the agenda should be kept at home and used as a reference.

·             Lots of information and work comes home everyday so I’ve provided a “homework folder” to make things more manageable.  Please check it daily and use it to send me notes or papers.  This folder works much better than a cumbersome notebook.  Please no “Trapper Keepers”!  If you have already purchased folders, use them at home to organize your child’s work area.

·             You will have the opportunity to purchase affordable and age appropriate books monthly from Scholastic.  Order forms will be sent home the first week of each month.  If you are ordering books please fill out the order form and return it to me in a labeled envelope with either cash or check made payable to the book company by Friday or you can order online.  Information on exactly how to do that will come home with the first book order form.

·             Please make sure your child has a beach towel or small blanket for “Read and Relax” time.  If your child has a book he/she would like to bring in for our “Read and Relax” time, please make sure it’s labeled with his/her name.

If your child is sick and/or will be absent on a particular day, please call the school between

8:00 and 9:00 a.m. so we will know that he/she is safely at home.  If several children are absent,

this will shorten the route and your child may be picked up a little earlier than usual.  Please be prepared for these occasions.  Please wait outside with your child for the bus to arrive. 

The driver may not stop if she/he can't see you. 

 

          You must be at home and visible to the driver when your kindergarten child is dropped off.  The buses leave the school at approximately 2:45-2:50 p.m., and actual drop-off time at your house may vary (10 minutes either way).  For example, if some children are absent that day, the bus route is altered and your child may be home 5-10 minutes earlier than on a previous day.  If it is apparent that no one is home, the driver will:

1) call his/her dispatcher who will call the school, 

2) we will call your home and ask you to go outside and meet the bus, 

3) if you are not home, your child will return to school and await your pick-up. 

 

Please do not attempt to chase/stop the bus at any time.  This is a safety hazard for all.

 

It may be necessary for you to walk your child across the street.  Routes were planned for the safest and shortest rides possible.

 

Also, if you plan to pick up your child early or after school, please send a note to school with him/her on that day.  If we do not have written permission from you, your child will go home on the bus.

Bus transportation is provided by First Student.  Routes are established by the drivers as soon as student registration is complete.  For this reason, we need to know if your child will be picked up and/or dropped off any place other than your home, i.e. daycare, neighbor, etc.  Please complete this form to ensure your child is assigned to the correct bus.  Any changes in this directive should be made in writing and delivered to the school office.  If this form is not returned, your child will be picked up and dropped off at home.
