Kindergarten News and Info
The weather has finally changed to match the season! We're
learning about how plants grow, where we live,
our phone number and birthday,solid
shapes, inroductuon to adding,subtracting and
"Animals Two by Two".
We will continue to focus on the alphabet and letter sounds
along with constantly reviewing our "popcorn" words.
We're formally changing "show and tell" to "story telling".
Your child will still have his/her assigned day and he/she can
still bring in something, but it is to be used as a prop in
telling a story rather than just a favorite item or toy from
home. The stories can be about anything; a trip to the store,
a visit with a friend or planting a flower.
We've been doing more writing in the classroom. The children
are learning to write words by phonetically sounding them out.
We're calling this "kindergarten spelling". At this point we
are more concerned with the process rather than the product so
please don't be concerned if you see papers coming home with
misspellings.
Reading to your child and having him/her reread the take home
books are wonderful ways to spend quality time together as you
help strengthen your child's reading skills and enrich his/her
vocabulary.
We will be going on a field trip to Lobster Tales on May 29th.
Information will be coming home soon.
Happy Mother's Day to all!
Don't forget to check our website regularly for upcoming events.
