Hello! My name is Ms. Burt and I am so very excited to be your second
grade teacher! This year will be full of fun activities and adventures. I
cannot wait to learn all about you, but first I am going to tell you a few
things about me…

I was born in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and grew up in Norton,
Massachusetts (that is about an hour away from Holden!). I have one older
brother named Michael. We both went to Bishop Feehan High School in
Attleboro, Massachusetts and then I moved to Worcester to attend Assumption
College. I knew I wanted to be a teacher, so I majored in English with a
concentration in Elementary Education.

I was lucky enough to student teach in fourth grade at Mayo during my
senior year of college. I learned from one of the best, Mrs. Jennifer Leith,
who retired in 2010. She was a wonderful and encouraging mentor who taught me
so many valuable lessons as I began my own teaching career. The 2010-2011
school year was my first as a second grade teacher. I cannot believe how fast
time has flown! I love all of the elementary grades, but second grade is
definitely my favorite!!

This fall I will begin course work for my master’s degree from
Framingham State. I am so excited for this next chapter in my own education!
One lesson I hope to teach you is the importance of being a life-long
learner.

I know you will be one of my wonderful busy bees in 2B!
After all, IT IS GREAT TO BE IN 2B!
