GIVE MY REGARDS TO BROADWAY
CHORAL MEDLEY

Click on the piano (also, see Tech Note at bottom)

Give my regards to Broadway, remember me to Herald Square; Tell all the gang at Forty Second street that I will soon be there. Whisper of how I'm yearning to mingle with the old time throng. Give my regards to old Broadway and say that I will soon be there, ere long.

Speaker 1: There's nothing more American then Broadway. The American musical theater is one of our great art forms. To properly cover all of the great shows, we could be singing for days...or even weeks. The problem is deciding what songs not to sing. Of course, we have to include "Oklahoma!"
Speaker 2: (interrupting) We have to sing something from "My Fair Lady!"
Speaker 3: What about "South Pacific!"
Speaker 4: Yeah, and "Hello Dolly" and...
(An argument begins with the entire group, all wanting to sing something different from the songs below.)

Kiss Me Kate, Oklahoma!, My Fair Lady, South Pacific, Flower Drum Song, Dreamgirls, Gigi, Hello Dolly, Cabaret, Phantom of the Opera, Evita, Chorus Line, Jesus Christ Superstar, Godspell, Gypsy, Annie
Speaker 1: (interrupting) All right! All right! We'll sing them all! (everyone goes quiet) So lower the lights, cue the conductor and raise the curtain for a salute to the great White Way!

"Another Op'nin, Another Show" from Kiss Me Kate

The overture is about to start so cross your fingers and hold your heart. It's curtain time and away we go. Another op'nin' of another show.

"Oklahoma" from Oklahoma
Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweeping down the plain, and the wavin' wheat can sure smell sweet, when the wind comes right behind the rain.

"I Could Have Danced All Night" from My Fair Lady

I could have danced all night. I could have danced all night, and still have begged for more.

There is Nothin' Like A Dame" from South Pacific

There is nothing like a dame, Nothin' in the world. There is nothing you can name that is anything like a dame,

"I Enjoy Being A Girl" from Flower Drum Song

When I have a brand new hairdo with my eyelashes all in curl. (There is nothin' like a dame) I float as the clouds on air do. I enjoy being a girl.

"I Cain't say No" from Oklahoma
I'm Jist a girl who can't say no, I'm in a turrible fix. I always say "Come on lets go!" Jist when I ort-a say "nix!"

"DreamGirls"
We're your DreamGirls, Boys, We'll make you happy. We're your dreamgirls, boys we'll always care. And all you've gotta do is dream. All you've gotta do is dream, baby, we'll be there-ee-yere. We're your dream-girls.

"Thank Heaven For Little Girls" from GIGI
Thank heaven for little girls.

"Hello Dolly!"

Hello, Dolly, well Hello Dolly, it's so nice to have you back where you belong. So take her wrap fellas, find her an empty lap fellas, Dolly'll never go away again.
"Cabaret" from the musical Cabaret
What good is sitting alone in your room? Come hear the music play. Life is a Cabaret, old chum. Come to the Cabaret.

"The Phantom Of the Opera" from The Phantom of The Opera

In sleep he sang to me, in dreams he came, that voice which calls to me and speaks my name. And do I dream again? For now I find the Phantom of the Opera is there inside my mind. "Sing, My angel, sing"

"Don't Cry for Me Argentina") from EVITA

"Don't cry for me, Argentina, the truth is I never left you." All through my wild days, my mad existence, I kept my promise. Don't keep your distance.

"What I Did for Love" from A Chorus Line

Kiss the day goodbye, the sweetness and the sorrow. We did what we had to do. Won't forget, can't regret, what I did for love. What I did for love.

"Seventy Six Trombones" from The Music Man
Seventy-Six trombones led the big parade, with a hundred and ten cornets close at hand. They were followed by rows and rows of the finest virtuosos, the cream of ev'ry famous band.
Seventy-Six trombones hit the counterpoint, while a hundred and ten cornets played the air. Then I modestly took my place as the one and only bas and I oompahed, oompahed up and down the square.

"Jesus Christ Superstar"
Jesus Christ, Superstar, do you think you're what they say you are?

"Day By Day!" from Godspell
Day by day (day by day), Day by day (day by day by day),
Oh, dear Lord, three things I pray (three things I pray)
To see thee more clearly (day by day), love thee more dearly (day by day),
Follow thee more clearly, day by day, by day, by day, by day.

"Everything's Coming Up Roses" from Gypsy

Now's our inning, stand the world on its ear.
Set it spinning, that'll be just the beginning, the beginning.

"Tomorrow" from Annie
The sun'll come out tomorrow, so you got to hang on till tomorrow, come what may.
Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya, tomorrow, you're always a day__ a-way____

Tech Note: I would suggest you use either Windows Media Player or Real Player to playback these MIDI (.MID) files. Set them as your default .MID player. That way you'll be able to open the "piano" and minimize it. Don't use Quicktime because it opens a new page for the music and you won't be able to view the words while the music is playing.

Please note: The lyrics and MIDI files on the following pages are for the educational use of Florence Sawyer School students only. The original choral music was purchased by the Florence Sawyer School and the chorus pages are meant solely for our students' practice.
