The PTO is an Organization of Parents and Teachers committed to enriching the educational and social experience of students and their families. The Taylor Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) welcomes new and returning Taylor School families to participate in our monthly meetings and volunteer to run activities and events. We fund enrichment programs and field trip transportation, coordinate family events for the Taylor community and volunteer to support the school in many different ways. Note, we do not create curriculum, nor dictate programs. We support and sometimes create ideas for programs which can be voted on by parents and may or may not be accepted by teachers.
Parental involvement in education contributes to student achievement in school. Studies have shown that when families are involved in children's learning at school and at home everyone benefits. Schools work better, families become closer, and students improve academically. (Source: U.S. Department of Education).
PTO Mission Statement:
The Charles G. Taylor PTO's mission is:
- to operate and conduct an organization to aid the students of Charles G. Taylor Elementary School by providing support for their educational and recreational needs and to open communication between the adminstration, students, parents and teachers;
- to foster a sense of pride, support and enthusiasm thru fund-raising and other activities and to promote a positive school/community relationship that will enhance the students' educational environment;
- to promote and help develop a cooperative work relationship between parents and teachers;
- to serve as a forum for the discussion of parents concerns and provide recommendations to the school administration.
Volunteer efforts range from a wide variety of in-school support services to coordinating Taylor's participation in family and community events. Funds donated to the PTO are used for enrichment programs, field trip transportation, and school pride events as well as for other PTO approved expenses that benefit our school and community.
It is our intention to create a welcoming "Taylor Family" that encourages families to participate in both educational and social events that build pride in our school and in our community. For more information on the PTO, please see the "PTO By-Laws" on the left-hand side table of contents.
The PTO Events & Activities
Please see the "Current Year PTO Events & Activities" on the left-hand side table of contents to review what is planned for the current school year. The PTO board is always interested in speaking to members about their options in chairing or being members of committees for the upcoming year. If you'd like to become more involved, we encourage you to join us at our monthly meetings (see "Calendar" on the table of contents for next meeting date) or events. There are lots of involvement opportunities with many different levels of time and commitment involved. Please review the "Volunteer Opportunities" item on the table of contents, print out the form and sign up to volunteer for any event. You may also contact any board member with any suggestions. YOU can make a difference!
PTO information and news will be posted on this website and e-mailed in weekly news "flashes". Additionally, PTO information will be included in the school's monthly newsletter, "Taylor Made News". Some notices of activities and events are also sent home with children.
We encourage you to attend our monthly PTO meetings which are held the second Tuesday of every month alternating between 7:00 pm meetings and 1:30 pm meetings in the cafeteria or library of the Taylor School. Babysitting for the 7:00 meetings is provided by Foxborough High School National Honor Society members, free of charge. Please see the table of contents item "Calendar" for the next meeting time. If you cannot attend meetings, meeting minutes will be posted under the "Agenda & Minutes" item on the table of contents after each PTO meeting.
