You will find HW assignments as well as some class notes listed on this page.
HOMEWORK QUALITY CHECKLIST
(MAKE it GREAT ... CHECK for EIGHT)
1. Read ALL instructions.
2. Answer ALL questions.
3. Show all work.
4. If you do not understand a question, write why.
5. Include labels (e.g. 35 inches, not just 35).
6. Write numbers clearly.
7. Do not round your answers unless asked.
8. Double-check your work.
MATH BOOKS
Please cover the McDougal Littell math book with paper, not a stretch cover. The stretch covers are too small (even the extra large ones) and break the bindings. Thank you for your help!
Homework assigned from these books should be done on a piece of paper separate from their math notebooks and should include a full heading in the upper left-hand corner, including the full assignment as written in agendas.

3. Move the decimal point from far right to the left in the product by the total number of decimal digits found in step 2.
4. Check the reasonableness of your answer using estimation.
(The A,B,C's of) Adding and Subtracting Decimals:
1. Align the decimal points.
2. Fill any Blank digits with zeros.

HW 11/30 - All Periods
Lesson 2.4, Practice B Dividing Decimals Practice worksheet
PROBLEM OF THE MONTH was DUE TODAY. This is worth a quiz grade. Make sure you hand one in (late or not)! You can download a copy of the POM from the Handouts page on this website.
Strategy for dividing decimals... (Think of each division problem as a fraction)
1. If divisor is a decimal, move the decimal point as many places as needed to make the divisor a whole number. Remember, the divisor is like the denominator in the fraction, and we want to divide by a whole number.
2. Move the decimal point in the dividend the same number of places (to the right) as you moved in the divisor. Remember, the dividende is the same as the numerator in the fraction. Whatever we multiply/divide the denominator by, we must do the same to the numerator.
3. Write a decimal point in the quotient directly above the (new) decimal point in the dividend.
4. Divide as usual.

Strategies for Comparing Decimals:
* From left to right, compare digits in the same place value. The decimal with a larger digit is the larger decimal.
* Compare the values as money.
* If both numbers have the same whole number part, add zeros so that both decimals have the same number of decimal digits. Then compare the decimal digits.

Remember to use any of these strategies to help you compare and order fractions:
Strategies for Comparing and Ordering Fractions
1) Estimate and compare to a benchmark.
2) Simplify, if possible.
3) If same denominators, the larger numerator is the larger fraction.
4) Rewrite the fractions to have a common denominator, then compare.
5) If same numerators, the smaller denominator is the larger fraction.
6) Convert fractions to decimals or percents.
7) Cross Multiply (Product) - The larger numerator in the cross product is the larger fraction.
8) Draw a model.
