March 2017

March is shaping up to be a busy month in Room 209!  In English Language Arts we are working on answering extended response questions and identifying the text structure cause and effect.  In mathematics we are continuing to work on algebra topics.  In science we have nearly completed our unit on the earth and its structures and will soon complete our volcano comic strips.  In geography we have completed our study of Latin America and we are just beginning our study of Europe.  We are currently working on a European "web quest".  In Vocation class we are working on our transportation unit.  We visited the Abington Commuter rail station and have another trip in the works to ride the commuter rail into South Station.  Fun!
Trimester 2 ends Tuesday, March 15th and report cards will go home in backpacks on March 24th.  MCAS testing will begin in April and will continue through mid-May.  Students in grade 7 will take tests in English Language Arts and Mathematics.  Students in grade 8 will take tests in ELA, math and science.

Success in each class depends on getting plenty of rest each night.  March is our busiest month of the year and sleep is essential to learning!

As always, please do not hesitate to call, email or send in a note should you have any questions at all.  My email address can be found on the school website or you may reach me through the portal on Teacher Web (this website).  Thank you!
