Hello Everyone,
When is this seabreeze going to stop? It just seems like we can't get out of the 50 degree area.
The sunshine has been wonderful though and it does not seem to faze our students at all. They
love being outside.
Our fifth graders have been monitoring the movement of their shadows outside taking into account
the earth's spin on it's axis. They have been tracing each others shadows with chalk and going
out at different times of the day to see if they have moved, gotten shorter, etc. It really is a great
experiment.
Our fifth graders are taking the mcas in science and technology for two sessions this week on
Tuesday and Wednesday. Our third graders are taking the MCAS in mathematics on Thursday
and Friday of this week.
Please make sure that your children get to bed early if they are taking the tests (or any test for
that matter) and that they eat a healthy and complete breakfast. Remember, we serve breakfast
here at the Great Oak school beginning at 7:55 and going till 8:20AM.
The teachers were delighted this morning to have iced coffee provided by the PAC and the Daily
Harvest cafe for teacher appreciation week. It is so nice for all of you to think of them and
appreciate the hard work that they do. They care about your children so much and are committed
to helping them achieve. I know first hand how hard they work and how skilled they are at their
jobs. If you get a chance, let them know they are appreciated. A nice email or note means so
much to an educator.
We have school meeting this week and some of our championship cheerleaders will be showing
off the big trophy they won in FLA. I saw it this morning it is huge!!
PAC meeting is Wednesday night at 7:00PM in the library.
