Grade 3 math tutors 2009-2010: Mrs. Corke, Mrs. Gargas
STAR reading students in grade 3 participate in the Read Naturally program.
This is a strategic intervention program designed to support those students
who need to improve their vocabulary, reading fluency and reading
comprehension. Some grade 3 students will be finishing the Project Read
program that they started in grade 2. Project Read is an intensive
intervention program designed to help struggling readers in the area of
phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency and reading comprehension.
In addition some students will receive extra phonics practice with a omputer
based program published by Lexia Learning.
Third grade STAR math students are working on reinforcing basic addition
and subtraction facts and following the Scott Foresman/Addison Wesley math
curriculum. They are working on solving word problems and practicing writing
complete short answers to math questions in preparation for the spring MCAS
tests.
