Grade 2 math tutor: TBD 2008-2009
Second grade students in the STAR reading program have the option to receive
a variety of reading interventions. Some students work in the My Sidewalks
program which is an intensive reading intervention designed to accelerate
struggling readers' learning in the areas of phonemic awareness, phonics,
vocabulary, fluency and text comprehension. Other students will participate
in Read Naturally which is a strategic reading intervention program designed
to support those students who need to improve their vocabulary, reading
fluency and reading comprehension. In addition a computer based phonics
program published by Lexia Learning is used with some students. This year
the school will be piloting a new phonics program called Project Read.
Second grade STAR math students are working on learning basic number facts
and following the Scott Foresman/Addison Wesley math curriculum.
