About The Teachers

SCHOOL: Green Meadow

CLASSES: Students receive Title I services during their literacy intervention time which is set up by grade level. Students are placed in an intervention group based on the type of support they need. Intervention groups often consist of students from the same grade but different classes.

About The Teachers

Mrs. Adamson:  Candace Adamson is Green Meadow's Literacy Coach. She has 
taught grades 1 and 2 at Green Meadow for many years and is a trained 
Reading Recovery teacher. She is working with the Title I program and our 
school to implement our new reading iniative.

Mrs. Corke:  Mary Corke has worked for several years in the STAR program 
as a math tutor. She previously worked at Drumlin Farms as a school program 
guide.  She provides intervention services in the classroom with

Mrs. Falco:  Susan Falco has worked as a STAR reading tutor in grades 1, 2 
and 3.  She has also worked as a STAR math tutor in grade 2. She comes with 
experience in working with small groups of children in after school programs

Mrs. Gargas: Kristin Gargas has worked in STAR for the past several years. 
Prior to that she was a school volunteer and PTO officer. This year she 
works as a STAR reading tutor in grades 1, 2, and 3 and a grade 3 math tutor.

Mrs. Mills: Catherine Mills has previously worked at Green Meadow and Fowler 
as a SpED tutor. She begins her third year in the program with a diverse 
background in helping children learn to read. She has worked with students 
in grade 1, 2 and 3 in reading. This year she willalso be working with some

Mrs. Thorburn: Pat Thorburn serves as the Title 1 Project Coordinator for 
the Maynard Public Schools as well as a program tutor.  She has been in the 
STAR/Title program for 8 years and comes with a strong background in 
children's literature from her experience as a former assistant librarian at 
Green Meadow. As well as working with students, she writes the monthly STAR 
newsletter, manages the STAR website for Green Meadow and organizes the Anne 
Duclos Library. The Anne Duclos Library is a collection of leveled books 
which are used by STAR/Title 1 as well as classroom teachers.

Ms Wallace: Christine Wallace joins the STAR program this year as a full 
time tutor after completing a Master's Degree in education at UMass in May 
2008. She has served as a substitute teacher at Green Meadow and also works 
in the EXCEL program. She will be working as a reading tutor in grades 1 and 
2 and a grade 2 math tutor. e-mail: cwallace@maynard.k12.ma.us

MISSION FOR STAR

The mission of the Strategic Teaching for Academic Reinforcement (STAR) 
program at Green Meadow is to provide support for early literacy 
intervention from grade 1 to grade 3 and early math intervention in grades 2 
and 3. Our mission is consistent with the literacy and math goals of the 
district and our school.
