I hope you all had an enjoyable weekend. The holiday season is upon us.
The school holiday program is on Wednesday, November 25th. Hope to see you
there! The Second Grade is performing a special poem and song.

We have been very busy. We read the story "A Turkey for Thanksgiving" and
enjoyed a laugh at this funny tale. We learned about the Pilgrims and why
they came to the New World. We also discussed how Pilgrim children lived
and the many chores they had to do. The class then wrote about whether or
not they would like to have lived during the 1620's. There were no
favorable responses. The class felt that life was too hard and there was no
time to play.

We began a new unit in Math and have learned about both Change Diagrams and
Part-Part-Total Diagrams. Both organizers help to set up ways to solve word
problems. They are good methods to use to organize thoughts before
computing an answer.

We had our weekly Fact Test. Keep practicing those subtraction facts!

We have been reviewing Proper Nouns and when is the correct time to use
capital letters. Please note this on any written work done at home.

We had another Spelling Assessment and the majority of the students did
well. Please remember to practice the "No Mistake" words as the children
are responsible for their correct spelling in everything they do.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday!

I like fresh air and tend to keep the classroom windows open as much as I
can. If your child tends to be cold, please send a sweatshirt or sweater to
keep in school so that (s)he can use it if necessary.

Thank you for all your donations. We are pretty well set except for:

      Expo Markers
      Purell

Your generosity is appreciated.
