Homework and Homework Policies
Students in fifth grade will have homework Monday through Thursday nights.
Each night, students homework will include math and ELA/spelling. Students
will also have an assignment that is given on Monday and due on Friday.
Of course, this assignment can always be passed in before Friday. Students
should always complete their homework in pencil, unless I specify that pen
is OK. Students write their homework in their agendas everyday right after
recess. Many students like to use their agendas as a checklist to ensure
they have done everything that they need to do and have it all back in their
homework folder for the next day.

If students do not have a homework assignment, their consequences are the
following:
copy over a poem at recess called "All My Great Excuses"
fill out a missing homework slip
take completed poem and slip home to be signed
complete missing assignment
return assignment, poem and slip to school the following school day

Weekly Wrap Ups go home on Friday. This is a way for students to summarize
their weeks with you. It is also meant to generate some discussion between
you and them so please ask away! Weekly Wraps are due back to school on
Monday.
Week's Worth of Work goes home on Monday. Please look through their work.
Please then sign and return the envelope for Tuesday. There is a place for
you to comment or ask a question on that envelope.
If students do not have their Weekly Wrap Up or Week's Worth of Work
returned, it is treated as a missing homework assignment.

Every fifth grader is responsible for having their homework done neatly,
carefully, and completely. I encourage students with questions to ask for
help from family members or to call friends. If needed, they can absolutely
seek help from me in the mornings. It is not acceptable for students to
simply leave homework questions blank.

Any questions? Please feel free to contact me.
