Favorite Books
by Toni
Open me, take a look
You'll soon call me your favorite book
I'll take you into a different land
Somewhere sunny, or filled with sand
A place where there's just you and me
And your imagination will run free
Where you'll meet creatures from various places
Some are brave, others have six faces
Pirates, dragons and unicorns too
All waiting to be read by
YOU.

Winter Days
by Nicole

Outside it's cold, very cold
the snow is so white
that it's quite bold.

The snowy owls blend right in,
snowflakes are up to my shins.

My fingers are frozen,
my toes are numb,
I wish I had some bubble gum.

I saw the children going sledding,
every second the snow is spreading.

Outside it's cold, very cold
the snow is so white
that it's quite bold.

If I Were a Car
by Mrs. Rogers

If I were a car, where would I go?
To California, Indiana, Mexico?
What if I put on some fancy wheels
And danced around, to see how it feels?
Or put on some feathers, way up high
To see if I could reach the sky?

If I were a car, which road would I take?
The highway, a byway, a path that I make?
If I were a car, what car would I be?
Start with some shapes, and then create me!

(Inspired by "If I Built a Car" by Chris Van Dusen)

A Book's Job
by Ashley

A book's job
is to fill our minds
with imagination

A book's job is to
make us feel
sad mad worried or happy

A book's job is to make us smart

A book's job is to give us something to do on a rainy day

The secret of a book is the characters want to peel right off the pages.

Snow
Falling silently
each flake a unique beauty
blanketing the ground

Winter
Winter is graceful,
it seems to flow,
outside is a spectacular place to go,
catch a snowflake on your tongue,
winter is a song
beautifully sung.

Fall
by Anna

The cool wind blows.
Birds greet the day by singing.
The leaves begin to fall.
Your breath is visible in the foggy air.
When you step outside, the wet grass tickles your feet.
The trees wave in the wind.
You go inside and there is a cup of hot chocolate lying on the table.
You drink it.
The warm chocolate slips down your throat.
Those are the signs of fall!

Falling Leaves
by Alexandra

"Look, look,"
the leaves
are falling
red
yellow
green
and
brown
each of them
fall to the ground
crunchy crunch
crispy air
leaves falling
everywhere
"catch 'em" "catch 'em"
"catch 'em all"
and that's one reason
I love fall!
