Literary Luncheonette

Children have been working on their Literary Luncheonette projects both in class and at home.  Children have menus in their BEE folders if you are curious about the projects they are choosing to complete and want to assist them as they complete the work.  Projects are due May 11.
As of May 10th there is an extension to the Literary Lucheonette projects.  It is May 17th.

Independent Reading

The children are selecting books for independent reading.  They may choose the genre.  The books should be selected carefully with regard to their reading level.  Keep in mind the books will be completed within 2 weeks.  Book length should be taken into consideration.  A little above or below their independent level is fine.  These books will be used in conjunction with our classroom reading incentive program..."Our Reading Tree".  Each time they read a book completely, take an Accelerated Reader quiz and pass the quiz on the book, they may add a leaf to our tree.  The leaf will include the child's name, the book's title and author and a 1-5 star rating of the book.  I added literacy links to this website for Accelerated Reader Book Finder and a parent guide for Accelerated Reader.

Nightly Reading

Children are expected to read at least 20 minutes every day.  Please make sure that your child is reaching this expectation.
This habit will serve your child well for years to come!
