Digital Natives v Digital Immigrants
There is much talk about the brains of our digital generation students, or 'digital natives', being wired differently to the brains of older generations who did not grow up in the digital world. So what are the implications for teachers and the 21st century learning environment? Do we need to examine and adjust the way we teach in order to connect with our students?
My feeling is a resounding yes! Web 2.0 offers a wonderful chance to change our teaching methods through its participatory culture, the democratization of knowledge, the authentic audience and opportunities for multi-modal learning.
