Occupational Therapy involves the “therapeutic use of work, self-care, and play activities to increase independent function, enhance development and prevent disability. It may include adaptation of task or environment to achieve maximum independence and to enhance the quality of life.” In order to receive Occupational Therapy services in the school, a student must demonstrate a clustering of delayed standardized test scores and/or delays in educationally related functional skills. Areas of function addressed include: fine motor/upper body control, visual motor integration, perceptual/visual skills, sensory processing, and activities of daily life skills.
