Holliston's Foreign Language Programs

Holliston's tradition of excellence in foreign language programming for young children began with the implementation of its French Immersion Program in the fall of 1979. In the fall of 1997, a district-wide focus group was formed to develop a plan for the implementation of a FLES (Foreign Language in the Elementary School) program in grades K-5. In January of 1998, the Spanish FLES Program was begun. At present, all students in Holliston schools begin foreign language instruction by Grade 1.

Documents describing the goals and objectives of each of these programs are found on their specific pages as About French and About Spanish. There is also a page of helpful websites that offer free support to students learning French, Spanish and Chinese. Students and parents should use these interactive websites as a means of scaffolding students' second language learning.

Foreign Language Parent Information Evenings are held on a regular basis for parents who have questions concerning our foreign language programs. To see a list of these dates, please consult the district website calendar.
