<DIV align=left>     Holliston's tradition of excellence in foreign language programming for young children began with the implementation of its French Immersion Program in the fall of 1979. In the fall of 1997, a district-wide focus group was formed to develop a plan for the implementation of a FLES (Foreign Language in the Elementary School) program in grades K-5. In January of 1998, the Spanish FLES Program was begun. At present, all students in Holliston schools begin foreign language instruction by Grade 1. </DIV>

<DIV align=left>     Documents describing the goals and objectives of each of these programs are found on their specific pages as About French and About Spanish. There is also a page of helpful websites that offer free support to students learning French, Spanish and Chinese. Students and parents should use these interactive websites as a means of scaffolding students' second language learning. </DIV>

<DIV align=left>     Foreign Language Parent Information Evenings are held on a regular basis for parents who have questions concerning our foreign language programs. To see a list of these dates, please consult the district website calendar. </DIV>
