Frequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
  1. What is the To Do Folder?
  2. What is the Reading and Multiplication Log?
  3. I know that my child needs to read every day. What should they read?

What is the To Do Folder?

At the end of a lesson, incomplete classroom work is put into a student's To
Do Folder. Homework that requires revision is also kept in this folder.

Several times a week, students are given the opportunity to work on their To
Do Folders and turn in completed or revised work. Periodically, students
are asked to take one or two items from this folder for homework.

What is the Reading and Multiplication Log?

This log book is a weekly summary of the reading and multiplication fact
practice that students complete for homework Monday through Thursday.
Students should log their work for both tasks each night. A parent or
guardian is asked sign the log on Thursday night prior to the student
turning in the log on Friday. Please encourage and celebrate student effort
and perseverance. Please remember that children are asked to read each and
every day, at least 30 mins and the choices for reading are varied. I look
forward to looking at and appreciating the logs each week.

I know that my child needs to read every day. What should they read?

Well, there are so many choices! Please encourage a diversity of options:
chapter books, picture books, children's magazines, poetry selections,
reading a book out loud with family members (perhaps trading turns reading
sections or chapters), reading out loud to a younger family member, and so
on. Have fun while reading!
