What materials are needed for this class?

For this class, you will need a large, three ring binder with front and back
pockets. It's a good idea to keep some lined paper in your binder as well,
You must bring a pen or a pencil to class everyday. In addition, you need
your literature book (covered), any novel we are reading, your completed
homework assignment, and a pleasure reading book. Most students find that
having a couple of blank disks or a memory (USB) stick for saving work on
the computer is also very helpful. Make sure your USB stick is compatible
with the computers at school!

What kind of homework will I receive in Language Arts?

Homework is an important component to any course. This is especially true for
Language Arts. Although you will not be assigned homework every night, it
will be assigned most nights, including weekends. Think of homework as your
practice for a skill or concept you have learned in class. Homework counts!!
It is important that you take your homework seriously and take the time to
complete each assignment with care. Your homework assignment will generally
take 30-45 minutes....sometimes less, sometimes more.

What if I forget my homework in my locker or at home?

Oops!! If you forget to bring your HW to class, you won't receive credit for
doing it. In order to receive credit for your homework, you must have it
with you at the start of class. You will not be allowed to go to your locker
to retrieve your assignment so it it important that you remember to bring it
to class! THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS!

How do I get my work if I am absent from school?

If you are absent from school, you should first check with your assigned
homework buddy. You can check my webpage for homework updates as well. I
will do my best to post HW every day. Remember, when you come back to
school, all your make-up work will be in the "While You Were Out" folder for
your class. It is your responsibility to obtain your make-up work, get it
done, and turn it in within 5(five) days of your return to school, in order
to receive credit. It is not my responsibility to ask you for your work.
Please see me directly if you have any questions about the work you have
missed. Remember to hand in your work directly to me, with your name on it!
