2009-2010 marks my 8th year as a Language Arts teacher at King Philip and it
is very exciting to be back, starting a new school year! My undergraduate
degree is from the University of Rhode Island and I hold a master's degree
from Boston University. Before becoming an educator, I was a clinical
audiologist and also hosted a radio talk-show in Rhode Island. I am married
with two sons, one of whom is a psychology/business graduate from the
University of Rhode Island. Our oldest son is a Ph.D candidate in cellular
biology at the University of Vermont and was recently married over the July
4th weekend. My family and I are huge ski + snowboard fans and winter
weekends will find us on the Vermont slopes. During the summer months, I can
be found at the beaches in Narragansett, R.I., where I enjoy kayaking,
biking, practicing the art of making the perfect clam cake, and getting into
the reading zone (on the beach) with a good novel. My passion is cooking ~
and we often entertain family and friends with culinary creations and good
conversation!
For the past five years, I've been the Musical Director for the King Philip
Drama Club. Maybe you've seen one of our performances: School House Rock-
Live!, Seussical, Jr., or Beauty and the Beast? For all those interested in
theater, acting, props, or costumes, this is a fun club to join! Be sure to
check it out!
Language Arts is an important part of your education. It is a demanding and
fundamental subject which can be both challenging and fun. Through reading,
writing, presentations, and some interactive projects, it is my goal to
provide you with the tools necessary to succeed academically in high school,
as well as become successful in life.
