Journal Questions

We will write about two journal questions per week this year. After seven questions I will collect a student's writing and do a "Journal Check."

Reminder: Since you are in seventh grade, all Journal Questions should be answered with at least seven complete sentences. And since seventh graders are about thirteen years old, thirteen is the number of words students should average per sentence.

And, no, that is not cruel. (wink)

TERM ONE JOURNAL CHECK #3

Journal Question # 1 :

Many people take competition too seriously. Are you competitive? Write about a time when you noticed someone being a bad sport. What happened? What could they have done differently?

Journal Question # 2:

A writer once said, “If you don’t risk anything you risk even more.”

What do you think this means? We all make choices each day. When is the last time you really risked something?

Journal Question # 3

Most people are born with five senses – sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell. If you had to give up one sense for the rest of your life, which would you pick, and why?

Journal Question #4

Would you rather have a successful, high-paying job that you hate, or a low-paying job that you love?

What do you think is more important in life?
