  7. Daily homework assignments and other important information can be found at teacherweb.com.  I am listed under King Philip Middle School.

·        Make-up work due to absence:

     1.  It is your responsibility to check with me about missing work when you return to school.

     2.  I will NOT chase you to make up missing work.  It is your responsibility to turn in the make-up work and complete any missing tests or quizzes.

          Homework

                   -  Missing homework assignments need to be made up in a reasonable time.  This is defined in the student handbook as follows:

                     1.  The homework assignment given the day before the absence
is due the day you return to school.
                     2.  For an absence of one or two days, the maximum make-up
allowance for the missed assignments will be four school days.
                     3.  For an absence of more than two consecutive days the maximum
allowance will be eight school days.
                4.  You need to complete missing homework assignments and turn
them into me to receive credit for them.
                5.  If the homework is not completed within the specified time
frame, the homework will be recorded as missing and five
points will be deducted from your homework grade.

     Tests and Quizzes

              -  The following are the guidelines for completing missed tests
or quizzes as outlined in the handbook:
                        1.  When a test or quiz is missed due to an early dismissal, the
student will be expected to take the test/quiz on the day
                             of their return to school.
                        2.  When a test or quiz is missed due to a one-day absence, the
student will be expected to take the test/quiz on the day of
return or by arrangement from the teacher.
                        3.   The maximum make-up allowance for a test/quiz is 5 school
days that begins on the day of return to school after the
                              absence.

·        Grading policy:

Each term the following elements will be used to determine a student’s grade.  If a student needs an additional copy of a packet they will lose 10 points off the grade for that assignment.

Tests:         A test will be given at the end of each unit.  Tests will count
                       twice.

Quizzes:      Quizzes will be given during a unit to monitor the progress of each student.  Quizzes will count once.

MCAS Packets:    MCAS Packets are given at the end of each chapter.  The questions in the packet refer to the material just covered.  They are a way of practicing MCAS problems.  They are to be completed at home or during SAT time.  The student may get help from his/her parent or guardian and have the answers checked.  They will count as a quiz grade.

Cumulative Reviews:  These are given as a way to review concepts already covered.  Students will have 2-3 weeks to complete 50 problems.  They are to be completed at home or during SAT time.  The student may get help from his/her parent or guardian and have the answers checked.  They will count as a quiz grade.

Homework:   Each term the homework average will be counted as a test grade.  Therefore, it counts twice.

Projects:      A project will count once or twice depending on its complexity.

·        NOTES:

1.  FIVE points will be deducted on assignments without names/and or done in pen.  If you do not have a pencil you need to borrow one from another student.  I will have pencils available if you would like to buy one from me.  The cost will be 10 cents.  This will cover the cost of me purchasing the pencils.

2.  5 – 10 points a day will be deducted for late assignments, such as projects.

·        Extra help:

  1. After school help will be on Tuesdays.  It lasts until 2:50 p.m.  There is a late bus for students to take home.
  2. By appointment during S.A.T. periods.

JJJ  I hope I have answered some of your questions.  If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to come and speak to me.  I am looking forward to having a great year with you in my math class!!!
