Homework

The Lexington Public Schools homework policy states that no homework will be given to children in kindergarten. On occasion, teachers may give optional projects or assignments to enhance and compliment student learning and enthusiasm. An example of a kindergarten assignment is the "Me Box."

ME BOX
As part of our “All About Me” unit, we are asking each child to make a “Me Box” at home. To do this, they will need an empty shoebox. The children should decorate the outside of the shoebox with their favorite things (these may include cut outs, drawings, words, pictures, etc.). Then your child can fill the box with up to five special things they want to share with the class. Some ideas for the box are baby pictures, family photos, a favorite book, etc. Each child will share his/her Me Box with the class during the week of September 24th.  The Me Box sharing will take the place of the children’s regular sharing time during this week. Please have your child bring the Me Box to school no later than Friday, September 21st (they may bring it earlier, if they wish). All items will be returned after we share them. We will keep the shoe boxes in school to use as our Book Boxes throughout the school year.  Thank you!!
