This spring, Ms. Blinstrub will be busy covering many interesting topics with students. Below is a list of what students will be working on with her.
Math:
-Students will be measuring length in inches, centimeters, meters, and feet. They will have lots of hands-on practice with measuring, along with problem solving, activities.
-Students will be solving word problems with money. They will build upon their knowledge of counting pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters to problem solve with money.
-Students will be practicing telling time on the hour, to the half hour, to the quarter hour, and five minutes.
Reading:
-Students will continue developing their comprehension skills, focusing on summarizing and inferencing while reading.
-Students will continue phonics work, and expand their knowledge of contractions and compound words.
-Students will finish the StoryTown program.
Writers' Workshop:
-Students will continue to write letters to their pen pals at Hoover.
-Students will write opinion pieces about favorite books.
-Students will complete an additional research paper, based on an animal habitat. This project will coincide with a science unit that Mr. Oginski will be teaching on animal and plant habitats.
Social Studies:
-Students will be completing a civics unit about rights, responsibilities, and good leaders.
-Students will be completing an economics unit about producers, consumers, buyers, sellers, goods, and services.
