In Reading: We are working on Theme 2 - "Give It All You've Got" - Giving your best requires both determination and risk. We will also focus on reading strategies: evaluate, summarize, predicting, inferring, monitoring, and clarifying.

ELA: Grammar and the writing process including spelling and vocabulary!

Spelling: compound words

Vocabulary: word families, multiple-meaning words, homophones, dictionary, syllables

Other skills we will be working on are common and proper nouns, singular and plural possessive nouns, verbs, verb tenses, and linking verbs.

Role playing using the Second Step Program (empathy unit).

In Math: We are working on multiplication and division with one and two digits(factors, products, divisors, etc.). We will aslo work on solving word problems and MCAS questions. 

In Social Studies: We will look at government, citizenship and responsibilities as well as reviewing map skills.

We will also work on MCAS test taking skills. As you know your child will be tested in ELA (English Language Arts), Math,  and Science. There are websites that you and your child can go to to help practice these skills at home. To find sample MCAS questions in these areas go the Department of Education website.
