In Reading: We are working on Theme 3 - "The Voices of the Revolution" - The spirit of the American Revolution lives on. We will also focus on reading strategies: evaluate, summarize, predicting, inferring, monitoring, and clarifying.

ELA: Grammar and the writing process including spelling and vocabulary!

Spelling: prefixes and suffixes

Vocabulary: words with multiple-meanings, homophones

Other skills we will be working on are common and proper nouns, singular and plural possessive nouns, verbs, verb tenses, and linking verbs.

Role playing using the Second Step Program (peer pressure).

In Math: We are working on multiplication and division with one and two digits(factors, products, divisors, etc.). We will aslo work on solving word problems and MCAS questions. 

In Social Studies: We will be focusing on Native Americans.

We will also work on MCAS test taking skills. As you know your child will be tested in ELA (English Language Arts), Math,  and Science. There are websites that you and your child can go to to help practice these skills at home. To find sample MCAS questions in these areas go the Department of Education website.
