Students can earn extra credit throughout the year. All extra credit points
will be added to your homework grade. Therefore, if you miss a homework
assignment and want to make up the missed points simply complete an extra
credit assignment.
The criteria for extra credit are as follows:
1. ANYTHING you can connect to a unit of study in class or class discussion
COULD be used for extra credit. (newspaper/magazine articles, TV
programs, advertisements, vacation photographs, etc...)
2. Following the regular instructions for homework completion, write TWO
paragraphs about the connection. The first paragraph should explain,
using details, the overall meaning of the article, program, etc.. and
how it connects to our units of study or discussions. The second
paragraph should be YOUR reflection about the connection. This
reflection should include some type of feeling or emotion (i.e. surprise,
interest, excitement, etc...).
3. Attach the article to the written paragraphs and submit it to the
homework basket in the classroom.
4. Try not to cut up your parents newspapers and magazines before they have
a chance to read them:)
