Dear Parents, Kindergartners are exposed to the following science topics that include: seasons, the five senses, growing bulbs, the moon and nature. Barbara Napoleone and Essex Kindergarten teacher Meghan Trenholm developed a science curriculum on Simple Machines. The unit will introduce the children to the concept that a simple machine is a tool that makes work easier. There are six simple machines including: lever, inclined plane, wheel and axle, screw, wedge, and pulley. The children will explore these simple machines and see examples of them in their everyday lives. With the help of their parents, they will bring examples of these from home to make a "Simple Machines Museum." The Kindergarten Team
