MathFirst grade students do not receive a report card in November. However, if first grade students were given a report card first term, I would be using the following information: In order for a student to receive a 4 (Advanced), s/he would need to be secure in ALL Secure and Developing level objectives. In order for a student to receive a 3 (Proficient), s/he would need to be secure in ALL Secure level objectives and developing in ALL Developing level objectives. In order for a student to receive a 2 (Basic), s/he would need to be secure in most Secure level objectives (developing in the remaining) and developing in most Developing level objectives. In order for a student to receive a 1 (Exhibits Difficulty), s/he would need to be developing and/or secure in less than half of the objectives listed. Secure * Exchanges pennies for nickels * Tells time to the nearest hour * Counts by 2s to 20 and count by 5s to 50 * Counts up and back by 1s on the number grid * Counts up and back by 1s starting with any number up to 20 * Counts up to 20 objects
Developing * Counts combinations of pennies and nickels * Compares pairs of numbers less than 16 * Counts by 2s to 40 * Counts by 5s to 40 * Writes and counts tallies * Writes numbers from 1 to 20 * Finds complements of 10 * Solves simple addition and subtraction number stories
First grade students will be receiving their first report card in March . Each student will be evaluated as follows: In order for a student to receive a 4 (Advanced), s/he would need to be secure in ALL Secure and Developing level objectives. Secure * Tells time to the nearest half hour * Orders and compares numbers to 22
Developing * Calculates the values of coin combinations (P, N, D, Q) * Knows value of pennies, nickels and dimes * Tells time to the nearest half hour * Compares numbers using < and > * Understands place value using base 10 blocks * Finds simple sums and missing addends (eg. 5 + ? = 12) * Knows +1, +0, doubles and sums of 10 addition facts * Solves simple number stories * Solves simple + and – problems by skip counting on the number line and number grid * Identifies and completes patterns
First grade students will be receiving their final report card in June. Each student will be evaluated as follows: In order for a student to receive a 4 (Advanced), s/he would need to be secure in ALL Secure and Developing level objectives. Secure * Understands place value for 10s and 1s * Knows addition facts for +1, +0, doubles and sums of 10
Developing * Identifies polygons and knows defining characteristics of polygons * Calculates the values of coin combinations (P, N, D, and Q) * Counts sets of quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies * Finds many names for a number * Identifies fractional parts of a region * Identifies fractional parts of regions and sets with a focus on unit fractions * Knows addition facts (eg. sums up to 19) * Solves number stories * Identifies and uses patterns on the number grid * Sorts and identifies objects by attributes
