Homework

Spelling- Spelling lists are handed out each Monday. Each student has
his/her own spelling journal that is brought home each night to complete
spelling homework. ABC order, 3x each, spelling senteces, and practice tests
are given as spelling homework each week. Every three weeks a review
spelling list is given. Children need to study and will be tested on the
previous 3 lists. Homework that week will consist of 3x each for each list
and a practice test. Spelling tests are given each Friday.

Math- Home Links are given almost every night. Please check over your
child's work. To support your child's math facts, Mad Minutes are given
every night. Please time your child to see how many problems they can finish
in a minute. After time is up, correct and count the number of right answers
and write the number at the top. Then, have your child finish the mad minute
untimed. Mad Minutes are given in school also weekly. If your child gets a
perfect score on a mad minute in school, they will move up to the next level
next week. For example, if they are on 30 addition problems and they get a
perfect score in school, they will start 40 addition problems next week.

Reading- Children should be reading 30 minutes each night. This should
consist of a combination of independent and read aloud. Read aloud helps
support your child's fluency and is very important to reading development.
