Greetings,
March came in like a lion and so did we. I can't believe that I'm seeing such growth in the
children. They are more independent. They are taking on more responsibilities. Their reading is
progressing very rapidly. The independent writing is coming together with better spelling and
more details.
They are loving the Solids unit. We are wrapping it up and will be starting the Liquids part
very
soon. They are learning to be more detailed with their observations and write ups.
Our field trip to the Ipswich Wildlife Sanctuary is coming up on Thursday, March 12. This ties
in
with the Pilgrim unit we did in the fall showing how people used natural resources to survive.
Report cards will be coming home on March 19. Conferences can be arranged to discuss progress if
necessary. Send a note or an e-mail and we'll set something up.
With the warmer weather coming you may want to consider sending your child to school in lighter
weight outer wear. They are always eager to take off heavy jackets even when the weather is
cool. They don't like it when we make them keep their jackets on at recess.
The Read-a-Thon is in progress. If you have lost the book slip that is to be returned every
Friday make a list of the five books read and send it along with your child. For each book read
your child will put a frog sticker on his lily pad.
With that said, welcome spring and welcome days of more daylight!
Mrs. Blake
