You will be writing 2 letters today.
1. a letter from YOU to Holden at this point in the novel. What do you
think of his decisions? How do you feel about him? Don't think about where
he ends up...go on as if you don't know where he is at this moment. 1 page
minimum, typed, DS, 12 pt font.
2. A letter FROM Holden to anyone he is leaving behind...Old Spencer,
Ackley, Stradlater, parents, whatever you decide. Use Holden's language....1
pg minimum, typed, DS, 12 pt font.
Due Monday if not finished by the end of class.

1A. write a short response to the following: If you were Holden and you
were just kicked out of school, where would you go?
2. Read chapters 8-10 in class then answer the following:

2. When was a time you chose to lie?
3. Why did you choose to lie?
3. Prepare notes for a discussion concerning Holden's lies to Mrs. Morrow.

Monday, April 27th
Welcome Back!
I hope you all had a relaxing vacation.
Today you will be getting some information regarding our next book, The
Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger.
You will view 2 seperate PowerPoint slideshows, with the second leading to a
homework assignment that will be due at the beginning of class on THURSDAY,
as we do not mmee Wednesday, for Sophomore Career Day. Thursday and FRiday
of this wee we will be in the library, doing small research projects that you
will present on Tuesday, May 5th. On that day, you will receive your texts
and we will get going. We will work hardd and fast, and as my schedule is
all planned out, we will know what is going on every day. We will be
finished with the book by June 9th, leaving us 18 days to go through my
entire planned assessment and reading. Then there will be 2 days for a
project (in class) that will be presented on June 15th and 16th, taking us
right up to the final exam. I ahve allowed for the two days of MCAS in
May...no worries. If you are absent, YOU MUST take the initiative to catch
up.

Today we begin the Pink Floyd Project.You have seen my presentation set to
music, now you will follow the same. Go to HANDOUTS to find the big list of
literary terms. You must find at least TEN different terms within your
song. You may use onemore than once, but that still only counts as ONE
term. Presentations will be friday. I have handed you the grade sheet that
shows how you will be graded. Put each team member's name on the sheet and
hand it to me Friday when it is your turn to present. Good Luck! Have Fun,
and above all, learn something new!!

For tomorrow quiz, we will meet in the english computer lab. You will find
your test in the HANDOUT section. Copy and save as a word document and
answer the questions, then e-mail your answers to me, AS AN ATTACHMENT. I
will grade using a different color, I will save, and I will return it to
you. Good luck, and always remember to do YOUR OWN WORK. You might be
sitting next to a dope.
Those of you requiring accomodations e.g.observing Passover may take the quiz

We are nearing the end of the Mariner's Tale! As the poem comes to a close,
we will need to consider major themes, symbolism, literary terms and
connections to the Romantic Era. You will have a paper assigned, 2-3 pages
in length. See Handouts for some ideas. (We will discuss in further detail.)
Wednesday, Dec 10...
A great start to Ancient Mariner! Check in tomorrow am to see if we are in
the conference room for thursday's reading.

Monday, November 3rd:
Final drafts were due today, Personal Revision advice sheet to be handed in
tomorrow with your final draft. No rough drafts needed.
Tuesday and Wednesday in the lab you will be creating your Julius
Caesar "Greatest Album Sides". Groups are assigned this time folks. Have
fun, listen to each other...you may find something you like that you would
not have tried before!
Wednesday, October 29th.
For the next two meetings, we will be in the Writing Lab, fashioning essays
based on the Linear Outline you will find in the HANDOUT Section of my
site.
You will also find 5 essay choices there as well. By the end of class on
Wednesday, you need to have an outline created and a thesis statement.
When you come to class on Thursday, you will have a rough draft (5-7
Paragraphs)and the final draft is due Monday, November 3rd. If these are
all
done, I have a "fun" final JC project for you to close out the quarter.
Tuesday, October 21st,
Storyboards look fantastic. Wednesday we will read Act III, Thuirsday we
will break down the funeral orations, and Friday (when I am out at my
conference) you will see the rest of the film.

In Act II, Scene I, Metellus urges the other conspirators to bring Cicero on

commend our deeds.” Brutus also worries that killing Antony would make
their “course…seem too bloody.” At this stage of the conspiracy, how do you
think a modern public relations firm would advise these men? Write out a
plan that would maximize public approval of the revolt against Caesar and
minimize public fallout. Include any special events you might plan, posters
or fliers, public gifts or allowances, and so forth that would help your
clients—the conspirators—prevail with confidence. You may work in groups of
no more than three (3). Due FRIDAY, October 3rd.
