The following assignment, and its questions, are to be done in your sketch book:

The perspective of the viewer and the artist.

Essential Question:

What changes are experienced when you switch your perspective from the role of the artist to the role of viewer?

Sketch book drawing assignment 1 (due 10/3):

1. Begin drawing a scene (it may be one that you make up or you draw from life). Draw only half of it on one side of your sketch book.

2. When you have finished your half, trade your sketch-book with a classmate and have them complete the other side of the drawing without telling them what your intent for the full drawing was going to be.

3. When you receive your book back, note the following:

a. Did the content change from what you had originally planned?

b. Did the second artist follow the style you were drawing in or have his or her own style?

c. How has your attachment to the drawing changed now that it is not just yours?

Sketch book drawing assignment 2: (due 10/27):

Create a drawing incorporating a tree and an eye(s) of an animal. First, sketch lightly in pencil, then use pen/ink to add detail, texture, and value.

Sketch book drawing assignment 3: (due 11/10):

Create a drawing incorporating a piece of furniture and your eyes. First, sketch lightly in pencil, then use pen/ink to add detail, texture, and value. Draw your eyes from life (look at them in a mirror). Research chair styles (or look in the magazines in the classroom).
