Course Description, Goals and Expectations, and Procedures

Course Description
The Honors Algebra 2 is a weighted course, which will be taught with rigor. 
Algebra and Trigonometry – Functions and Applications is designed for a 
course in intermediate algebra, advanced algebra, and trigonometry.  The 
application of understanding the concepts are presented by mathematical 
models in the real word. These mathematical models (word problems) require 
the students to use many mathematical concepts in the same problem.

Student Goals and Expectations
•Come to class on time and prepared – text book, notebook, TI-83 Plus 
 calculator,pencil/pen, completed homework with all work shown.
•Be very good listeners – to peers as well as the teacher.
•Be very good note takers, to ask questions, to be conscientious in your work.
•Be able to participate independently or within a group.
•Ultimately to be responsible for yourself.

Teacher Goals and Expectations
•To inform, instruct and facilitate information. 
•Create a learning environment 
•To be able to communicate using math vocabulary.
•To be able to relate the material to real world problems.
•To review SAT/MCAS problems.

Grading Procedure
•Tests          50%
•Quizzes        20%
•Homework       20%
 (Homework is assigned daily. Randomly once a week, I will collect and grade  
  the homework.)   
•Projects       10%
•When a student is absent he/she must responsible in arranging time to make 
 up what has been missed. On my website, you can track the schedule for each 
 chapter.   
•Extra Help is available before and after school in Rm. A211. I am at school 
 by 7:30 every morning and after school I am available on Monday, Tuesday and 
 Thursday till 3pm.
•Read your Student Handbook CAREFULLY. All rules apply in this classroom.
