Please remember to check and sign your student's assignment notebook each
night. Your signature verifies that you have checked completed homework and
made a notation of any problems encountered. Homework assignments for all
classes are written on the white board in the TIDES classroom at the end of
each day. Parents are welcome to stop into the TIDES classroom at the end of
each day to clarify homework expectations and ensure that students have
necessary materials to complete assignments.
Extra help and clarification is offered by all special and general education
teachers from 2:30-3PM, Monday - Wednesday. Homework Club is held in the
school library from 2:30-3:30, Monday-Wednesday. Although the library homework
club is not structured to provide individual help or tutorial services, it is
an excellent opportunity for students to get a jump start on homework, work on
collaborative projects, and develop good work habits among their peers.
Key things you can do to help your child at home are to make sure he / she has
adequate sleep and nutrition, a consist homework time, quiet space, and
adequate supplies, and organizational support. All classes have specific
binder organization requirements which are reinforced daily at school.
Consistent reinforcement at home of these prescribed systems will help your
child retrieve assigned and completed assignments and materials in a timely
manner. Master binders for all classes are maintained in the TIDES classroom.
I am happy to work with you and your child to make sure their binders are
properly organized and encourage you make an appointment with me to accomplish
this task.
We are making a district- wide effort to publish teacher web pages with
consistent information. Although still under construction, please make a habit
of checking individual teacher web pages for course overviews, current units,
daily homework assignments and longterm projects, as well as grades.
Important school announcements are sent home on Wednesdays of each week in
student advisory folders. Advisory folders should be signed each Wednesday,
indicating that you have received and read all contents; and, returned at
Thursday advisory. If your child manages to leave school without their
advisory folder on Wednesday, please stop in on Wednesday afternoon or
Thursday morning to gather contents and sign the folder. Any folders not
returned with a signature at Thursday advisories will result in a phone call
home and student detention until the signed folder is returned. Please help
your child by monitoring this process every Wednesday and Thursday.
