Recorder Club

UPCOMING PERFORMANCES

We have an evening concert scheduled for Thursday,
January 14, 2010 at the Medfield High School. We will be the second
performing group in a concert with the Fifth and Sixth grade Choruses.
Students should wear dark pants or skirts with white shirts. The students
can dress up their concert wear with a vest if they have one.

Thank you for all your delicious contributions for our caroling holiday
party! It was a successful and fun event.

The Club is sounding fantastic this year, and they are a great group of
individuals. All our members are faithful participants in each rehearsal.
We look forward to playing for you on the 14th!

The Recorder Club is a group of Dale Street students who meet together
before school on Fridays to play the recorder together in an ensemble. We
use the soprano, alto and tenor recorders as well as pitched and unpitched
percussion instruments to make music together. The purpose of the club is
to enjoy the process of music making, but we usually present at least two
concerts each year.

The students earn their place in this ensemble. They must learn to read and
play the seven pitches taught on the recorder in general music by the end of
the fourth grade. An invitation to participate in the Recorder Club is sent
home each September to the students who have mastered the skills necessary
to enjoy participation in this faster paced music club
